Cosel and August have fathered offspring on Dresdens tallest Hotel

Six young kestrels have hatched on the roof of Dresden’s tallest hotel, the Pullman Dresden Newa. As early as February, hotel employees had fitted nesting boxes to the roof edge and furnished them with woodchips and hay. Already one month thereafter a male kestrel had moved in, his partner shortly afterward. Soon the female had laid 6 eggs at 50 meters height – an unusually high number. The hotel’s employees named the kestrel parents Cosel and August. Now the six young hatchlings have been given identification bands under the watchful eye of General Manager Daniel Schlomann by the Beringungszentrale Hiddensee (Bird-Banding Station Hiddensee).
